Jimmy is in his thirty-third year of law practice, earning his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School in 1986. He has also been awarded the distinction of “Louisiana Super Lawyers” and “Top Attorneys in Louisiana.” Jimmy received an AV rating from Lexis Nexis Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review (Highest Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards).

Jimmy is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in Texas.

Mr. Domengeaux is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana and currently serves as Treasurer of the Francophone section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. He is a former board member of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association. He recently received the 2018 John Hernandez, III award from the Francophone Section of the Louisiana Bar Association.

Mr. Domengeaux has an extensive general trial practice including the areas of Maritime Personal Injury, Civil Rights Violations, Constitutional issues, Longshore Workers’ Compensation and automobile collisions. He is the author of an article published in the LSU Law Review entitled “Native Born Acadians and the Equality Ideal”, 46 Louisiana Law Review 1151 (1986).
